Dogs and Diapers

I'm putting up a small warning with this post...if you are a bit squeemish about the topic of poo and anything related to it....this may NOT be the post for you.

So yesterday after my morning rant about the stock market and my flleeting thought about becoming a Canuck...I was in quite a kerfuffle....(I think that's how it's used)....I was in a much better mood after Pooh-nuts little girlfriend came over for a little play date...and praise be to her mama for bringing Coffee and Munchkins....My day was looking oh so much brighter....

After the full morning of baby babble and toy explosions.....and a good mid morning/afternoon nap....It was time to go to the Monster Mash party at Daddys squadron....I am trying very hard to be more social this deployment....But in true Mommy Fashion...I"m running late....so after getting him in his outfit....his whiskers drawn on with my eyeliner....the food packed...and everyone in the car....I forgot to close all the bedroom doors....

This is Before the Eyeliner Application...He looks absolutely thrilled doesn't he

We HAVE to keep the dogs out....they are COMPLETELY untrustworthy.....I think they relish in finding ways to make messes....

And can I just say that I completely believe that scruffy the Pom is the mastermind behind it all...and Skarlet and Kali are the the braun.....

THE MAIN CULPRIT (TWEEDLE-DEE)

THE OTHER HIRED GUN (TWEEDLE-DUM)

THE MASTERMIND OF ALL BAD DEEDS

Anyway, after Pooh's first Trick-or-Treat escapade...and the long drive home....I was opened the front door to I thought were 3 very well behaved dogs....until I went into Pooh's room to get him out of his Tigger Costume....

Can I just say it looked like the Diaper Genie Threw up Everywhere.....and for a second I thought maybe it had....

But a piece of diaper still attached to Skarlet's mouth....told a different tale....

Can I just tell you HOW absolutely disgusting baby poo that has been smeared all over a carpet can be???? It was unimaginable....and whatever happens to diapers once they are wet....you know the little cotton=y looking stuff...was all over the place...under the crib.....behind the door....

The strangest part of the whole thing...I didn't even get mad.....I just laughed while I was scrubbing out the poo in the carpet....and febreezing the whole room....I would have loved to have had a video of how the whole scene unfolded....I can just imagine how much fun was had with all those poopy diapers....yuck...

I realize that the dogs were probably just trying to be helpful, in cleaning up Pooh's Poo....(or drive me to the brink of insanity).....

But the Biggest Lesson I learned....Diaper Genies are NOT Dog proof.....

And no....they didn't get sick...I think these dogs have cast iron stomachs....They've eaten raw chicken, a dozen Crispy-Creme Donuts, Chocolate Easter Candy, plants, 2 boxes of Bisquick, blocks of cheese, oh and I can't forget the occasional pile of cow poo....but having a baby has taken their propensity for eating things they aren't supposed to...to a WHOLE new level....

I can only imagine what they'll get into next......I think I need the Dog Whisperer....

Oh Lordy...I wasn't expecting such a funny story when I clicked on your Saucy blog link this morning! I hope you have all recovered!

Now that is nasty nasty nasty. And I really thought that no one could top the animal antics at my house, butI think you just did it

Found you through SITS . . . thanks for the heads-up on diaper genie not being doggie proof! I have also found that I have way more patience than I ever thought I did after becoming a Mama, isn't it amazing?!? Thanks for a laugh!

Sandi said...

oh my...yes that was pretty gross! I'd hate cleaning all that up. But what can you do? It has to be done so I guess yelling and screaming probably won't help one bit. haha I might yell a tiny bit anyway though. ;)

Lindsey said...

Ha! I can't believe they did that!!! How in the world did they get into the diaper genie? They are too smart. Noah looks super cute in his costume by the way. Did you guys have fun?

Dorsey said...

Oh man!!! I just have to track down my underwear when its time to do laundry..if its left ANYWHERE within my chihuahua's reach she will drag it off to some secret lair and suddenly I own NUMEROUS pair of crotchless panties!! UGH!

this is a hysterical post. reminds me of my BF being a new mommy and went it to get Emma up from her nap only to find that Emma had redecorated her room. Yes, she had smeared poop all over her walls and crib not to mention herself. It was a disaster. Funny story.

Funny stuff! I'm SO glad I'm not alone in this one.

Somehow, our little pug finds away to JUMP the few short feet to the trash can outside and pull out my toddler's diapers. Poo and that fun diaper filling is always all over our yard. *gag*

BTW...I've had to hit repeat on your playlist a few times. I love "Beautiful Boy"!! Bring on the tears! LOL

Aaaahhhh I was dying for the picture of the actual mess. Is that strange of me? I just wanted to see exactly the damage that had been done. Just looking at the main culprit, I can tell there's non-stop mischief there. Adorable dogs and adorable baby. Congrats on being saucy!

Hee Hee!! Funny post. Yes... I wanted to see photos of the actual mess too. We are all sick, huh?

Now, without further ado...

You have been bloggy boo-ed!!!!

Go to my blog and grab your "boo" sign!!! Spread the boo spirit!!

LOL, you handled that so much better than I think I would have!! I can't even imagine how gross that was. :)

Found you through SITS

Oh good grief!!!!!!! I just can't even imagine. Well, actually I can. I have twins. Whilst they are now 18, once upon a time when they were 2 I walked into their bedroom one morning and they had had themselves a little Poo Party. I still have a nervous little twitch just thinking about it!

Your tale is just another one of the many reasons we crate our almost year old Goldendoodle whenever we leave the house. That mutt cannot be trusted with ANYTHING!

P.S. Found you through SITS! Great blog. I look forward to coming back!

....(pause because I am still laughing at your Diaper Genie explosion)....

If it makes you feel any better, my mom's dog eats tampons he finds in the trash.

I totally knew what was coming and starting gagging immediately and oh how I can sympathize with you. We have a little white Maltese whose favorite snack is a dirty diaper. She loves her some good diapers...good thing they are few and far between...but nonetheless disgusting. You can totally see it all in her white muzzle.

P.S. did you use mouthwash on the dogs?!

Lesley said...

lol...I have loved all the comments...I wasn't sure if others would find it as amuzing as I have...granted I didn't find it amuzing in the beginning....to answer a couple of questions...I wish in hindsight that i had taken pictures....however I have a feeling had I posted...there may have been some tossed cookies throughout internet land....and mouthwash...another good thing I didn't do...I just used doggie toothpaste....to clean out their stinky-ness....lord, I hope that is the worse...and that Pooh does NOT live up to his nickname and hav a Poo party like I've been reading about...I think you all had it worse than me.....

It is morning here in Hong Kong and I thought I would stop in before having my breakfast. But, I am going to skip it today.

Too funny. Thanks for the laugh!!

YUCK! Poo, once thrown away, should be left alone. The end.

I admire that you were able to laugh...I would have cried!! =)

I am laughing so hard it is hard to type *tear*

Congrats on being Saucy!!

Heather said...

you know, i have a pom too and she used to eat her own poop! i never understood why she did that.

we moved, and have horses now, so all of our dogs like to make their way to the horse pasture and eat the patties. it grosses me out. but from what i read, it is a treat to them. which i think is weird.

came over from SITS!

Melissa Papaj Photography said...

That is awful! I have had some similar experiences with my little ones, but none that bad.

Katie Lane said...

Wow, you didn't even get mad? I would have wanted to give the dogs away!

Anonymous said...

Thank God for carpet cleaners! They all look so innocent though.

MrsM said...

A word for the future-diaper genies aren't toddler proof either. They're essentially useless unless you want to actually use them (ie you're an adult) or you're looking for trouble (ie you're a child or a pet).

said...

Oh mercy - blech!! LOL!!

Whispering Writer said...

Oh you poor thing! At least you had a good sense of humour about it, which probably helped!!
Your little boy is adorable in that Tigger suit.

Kari Jenkins said...

Just for future reference...they will eat out of the potty seat if you have a free standing one. Dont turn your back to wash the baby's hands first and then attend to the emptying of the potty seat. If your dogs are anything like mine, and sounds like they are, that poo just might not be there when you turn around.

Thank goodness there are no diapers in my house but during the holidays we put out a dish of hershey kissess on the coffee table and 2 minutes later it was empty and little pieces of foil were all over the carpet. Not as scary or funny as your pooh story but it just goes to show what dogs can do when they want to. Happy SITS day!

Becky @ Our Sweet Peas said...

Wow, I am impressed you handled it so well. I guess it was one of the those "laugh or you'll cry" moments!

Creative Junkie said...

Ewwwwwwwww - reason #763 we don't have a dog.

Heather said...

Good for you for not having a meltdown, 'cause I think I would've been tempted to drop the culprits off at the local shelter, if only to scare them...

Have a great Saucy day in the SITS limelight!

Anonymous said...

Ah, a first-class lesson in motherhood: you are going to do, talk about and laugh about things you never could have imagined before!

Mrs. M said...

Oh man, that is so gross - my stomach would not have survived the clean up process!! ;-)

Anonymous said...

Oh man. You're tough - what a great attitude, seeing the humour in the situation. I would have been in tears.

Anonymous said...

That's one of those situations that you have to either laugh about it or cry. I think I would have done both. LOL

Elizabeth D. said...

Wow, and I thought my dog was mischievous (he eats blinds in an attempt to watch for us outside when we leave the house). Your dogs make my dog look like an angel! Wow. Makes me glad I have a baby gate on my kiddo's room that the dog can't jump! At least you were able to have a good laugh about it. :)

Well, I think I'll just read this post out loud to my Coco (teacup Chihuahua). Maybe she'll get the point and change her ways!

Karen MEG said...

Ewwwwww, I guess Diaper Genie's are only Grandma proof (my Mom always hated that thing, could never figure it out!).

Your dogs, are cute, and I guess, don't mind slumming it for a snack.

Cute, post, here from SITS!

Michelle said...

OH MY GOODNESS! HOW CRAZY. You really should have taken a picture. LOL.

I can't believe you just cleaned it up...what a trooper. I would have called weak stomach and required help from the hubs.

Cammie said...

I have a dog named Scarlet as well. She likes to enjoy what we call "bathroom buffet" from time to time. You know, eats all kinds of goods out of the trash, dirty tissues, q-tips. mmmmm

Bobbi said...

My dogs think horse and cat poo is DELISH!!

Kelly Deneen Raymond said...

Oh. My. Goodness. That is crazy!!!!!

Mimi Head said...

Oh man! It's great that you could laugh at it all! What characters too! And they all look so sweet.

What is it with dogs and poop?! My dog Nick, a Siberian Husky (who passed away back in the 80s), used to like bird poo off the back deck. Yuk!

Anonymous said...

That truly is disgusting! I don't know why dogs think the grossest stuff is delicious. My lab likes horse poo! They are silly creatures for sure! :)

Lisa said...

Dogs are so gross. My dog used to eat diapers, and cat poo, and all manner of disgusting things. She's too old and lazy to bother anymore, and I'm so glad.
You were a good sport about the cleanup.

Rhiannon Bosse said...

I thought cleaning the kitty litter was bad holy cow. I would die. I would get all the floors/carpets replaced ahahah funny story :)

Kristina said...

Hi, saw you on SITS - Congrats. So funny & gross!

S Club Mama said...

Oh my gosh, I don't even think I could stand it. Yesterday we were asked if we wanted a new puppy; today, right now, I am thankful we said no. :S

I don't think I could have laughed. I would have thrown up, I'm fairly positive. :S yuck but thanks for the share.

Juliet Grossman said...

Okay, that is hilarious! So funny. I love the pics with analysis of who is behind the plot & who does the dirty work.

Laura said...

Dogs must like poo diapers. If (or when) my dog gets loose, it never fails he gets a poo diaper out of the neighbor's garbage. Believe me, it is very disgusting when it's not your child's diaper. YUCK!

foxy said...

That is HILARIOUS, sitsta! Happy day to you :)

Nooooooooo. That's why I have cats. Ah ha.

Just came here through SITS. You know, what is mommyhood without a little booger/spit/vomit/poo??? Amazing how resilient we become to it for our own kids, but when it is someone else's kid??? Yuck!!!

Bleck! Luckily, my dog was so old by the time a tasty Diaper Genie was in the house he couldn't have cared less about it. I did, however, blame the dog for this until I realized what it really was.

There's just no way around it: kids are grody hahaha.

Jen said...

Congrats on your SITS day. I can only imagine what a mess that must have been. But good for you for laughing about it. B/c I laughed at the whole story. :)

TheYandR_Lady said...

That is too cute. The good part about it, yes there is a good part, is that the doggies were just trying to get his scent all over themselves. It actually translates into "We love him". Not that I am a Dog Whisperer or anything. pooh is the official "leader of the pack. vroom vroom"

Denise Grover Swank said...

My dogs are disgusting too. Heaven forbid I change a nasty diaper on the floor-- my dogs are all in that mess! Good thing you had such a great sense of humor about the whole thing.

That is too funny! I've had to clean up a similar mess that our dog had made, but I was throwing up instead of laughing! Enjoy your SITS day!

Michelle said...

Oh you poor dear! I don't envy you at all, but how those smart dogs got into the Diaper Genie when my FATHER can't figure it out. Well, no comment. At the moment, I'm just busy being grateful that we have cats instead of dogs! ;)

You have a great attitude. I think I would have cried. Reading this makes me very glad I am a mean ole' mom and won't let my kids have a dog! :)

Oh yuckkk.....I don't think I could have kept my cool.:) Whew! Makes me cringe. Although I remember when my oldest was a baby, and we have an outside dog, and he somehow got ahold of a diaper in one of our trash cans. It was gross!

I am actually relived to know that there are other dogs out there like mine. My dog eating anything that has a smell is the story of our lives. She does get sick from eating diapers you'd think she's learn a lesson...nope!

Happy SITSday!

I laughed myself into tears over this story. I've been there! We had to resort to putting the diaper pail out in the garage, and making sure to toss each one immediately!

Cat's aren't guilt free either! Mine likes to chew kotex wrappers, ugh!

Glad you were able to blog about this!
