The Heavens Parted....the angels Sang

For Juice and I had our Very First Date Night......Yep the Very First one since Pooh has graced us with his presence...and has turned our Twosome...into our pefect little Threesome....

I know...after 10 months 1 week and 5 days....even I'm surprised I've held out this long...and no I have not subjected myself to copius amounts of alchohol....even though the thought had crossed my mind on many occasions....see my night with 2 fat bastards as a good example

and Juice and I quite deserved to have a night with just the two of us....
that shouldn't be limited to whatever we can do at home...while Pooh is off having wonderful baby dreams....that probably consist of what he can get into the next day.....

because I just really don't want to see another episode of How It's made....and if he sees another bad audition of American idol.....he'll...well...we just may see his bad rendition of every rose...next year.....

I do have to say ....

It's funny.....I realize.....getting so in the groove of having pooh be our third musketeer...I forgot how nice it is just being alone....not worrying about do we have enough formula..."oh god he had a blowout"...."don't throw that on the floor"....etc...etc....etc...

I feel like I should earn a girlscout badge or something....like I've step into the next level of being a parent...."the first solo outing"...."the first date"..."the first time you can have an adult conversation without baby babble slipping in"....

I know I don't have to tell most of you reading this...you have been there...done that...and are probably shaking your head at me having waited so long to break free....

And we really did have a very nice time....even though we probably talked about our son 3/4 of the time....(we'll work on that during the next date...one step at a time) and it took me awhile to get comfortable not having him there....I kind of felt for the first half hour or so...like I walked into the restaurant forgetting my pants at home....and I seriously had to make sure the phone was nowhere within hearing or reaching distance...ie the glove box in the car....so I wouldn't be the typical first time out mom who calls every 15 seconds just to hear him breathe....

but by the main course...we got into the groove of things...okay I got into the groove of things....Juice was fine even before we pulled out of the driveway....we really started enjoying the fact that we could chew our food....(wow...such a concept)....we actually spent over 1 hour at a restaurant....amazing....

but even with having a whole night of freedom....

.....after dinner....and a movie (another concept I had comepletely forgotten about)...and it being only 9:00...we realized...there was NOTHING else we wanted to do....we didn't want to do the things we did...pre baby...or pre marriage....of course Juice...asks oh so suavely..."want to go parking?".....ha....funny....I don't think I can manuever over the seats as well as I could before....(my butt is a tad bit bigger)....plus.....just our luck...we'd get caught....and poor pooh would probably end up having a complex....

so...instead of going out and partying it up....or finding out just how flexible I still am....

we went home....and did what any self respecting parent does when they get a chance....go to sleep.....and I have to say.....I think that was my favorite part of the date....

and I promise, even though we like hanging out with Pooh...more than not hanging out with him.....it will not be another 10 months before we go have another date..."parents only".....

Okay, I'm jealous! I'm going to take some friends up on their offers and make the opportunity for us to do it, too. I'm glad you had such a nice time and YAY for not boozing it up--you'd just regret it the next day when Pooh sensed your weakness and took full advantage!

Yay for date night!

I don't think it ever changes. 16 years and 3 kids later, my hubby and I still talk about the kids for a bit during our date. Just a bit. LOL

Continue to make time for just the 2 of you. It does a marriage good!

Date nights are the best! We usually end up home around 9:00 too so we can grab that uninterrupted sleep time!! lol!
We've been doing this for 14 years!

Sounds like a wonderful night and well deserved! I love date nights and we have gotten away from them because our kids are a little older and just easier to take with us rather than get a babysitter.

Just wait until he is 2 years old...you will be lining up babysitters left and right!

And I love date nights that end sleeping. I always feel so amourous {sp?} towards hubby during date nights and think we should spend a little time in the bedroom together too before falling asleep. But usually we have eaten too much, are too uncomfortable and too relaxed and just want to crawl into bed and close our eyes! To me that's a sign of a good, solid relationship!

Maybe one of these days I'll remind him of how the old date nights used to end {not sleeping}...but then I would only have to have salad for dinner!

everyone is talking about going on dates this week and my husband and I haven't been out alone in over 3 years! I don't think we would know how to act alone with out the kids! I am so jealous!

Congrats on that first date! It does feel so weird, doesn't it? The talk about the children doesn't totally cease ever (at least not for me!) but it does start to die down. Start planning that next one -- date, I mean!

Thank you so much for stopping by on my SITS day on Thursday. I've really enjoyed reading all the comments and lovely things people had to say. It's taking me a bit to get around to read the blogs of everyone who commented, but I'm getting there! I hope you enjoyed your stay and that you come back to visit again soon!

Date nights are for remembering why we are a couple, and why we made that precious little person/s still at home. :)

I personally believe that date nights be compulsory, , say - once a month or so, but that doesn't happen in my reality! I might have to fix that asap ~ I LOVE date nights! Glad you had a nice time.

Congratulations!!! It's such a huge step...leaving the little one that first time.

I know it was hard for us...it still is....now my 4 year old and the 2 year old will ask if they can come. That tugs at my heart and it takes a gentle pull from my husband to get me moving to the car. We not only talk about them while we are dining...we take out the wallet and start scanning the pictures. But once we get that out of our system...we actually talk and laugh and hold hands and remember why we fell in love.

I hope you guys go out again and soon!

It took us about 3 years to go out for the 1st time! And b/c we're out of practice, when we do go out, we don't even know what to talk about anymore. Kinda sad.

I am glad you finally got out by yourselves...and I don't think 9:00 is early at all! (maybe that is because I am a mom too and I know that sleeping is so much important when you have a child).

When we went out for our first "date" I kept telling Luke that I felt like I was missing an arm or something. As a mom you get so used to having your baby within sight (at least) all the time that it feels like you are missing a piece of yourself when your out without them.
