The End of An Era....

Now I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing that would give me a black mark on my Mommy Grading Card or not.....I guess I'm actually hoping for reassurance that I'm not the only mommy that doesn't go into their childs room at the first peep of "I'm awake"....bright eyed and bushy tailed...ready to get the day started....

Instead, I try and get that extra 15 minutes of sleep, that I at the time think will make all the difference in the world.....You know that, that last 15 minutes is Really like getting another full 8 hours.....It's like GOLD!

Well my friends....those 15 minute power zzzzzz's are now over.....as my little munchkin man has successfully transitioned from his crib to his very own BIG boy bed......and can I tell you? I so miss the crib.....SOOO miss it!

The little man has done such an amazing job......sleeping the whole night......without doing a rockstar worthy room destruction before hand.......and is EVEN polite enough to knock on his door first thing in the morning when he's ready to start his day..... Impressed was an understatement, as when I told others of our plan to emancipate him from his crib....were met with..."good luck with that" and looks of sympathy and something akin to fright....

Little did I know that his day would start a whole extra hour earlier in his big boy bed, than in his crib.....not in the manaul....These last two mornings, I have just NOT wanted to give up those precious and coveted measley 15 minutes of extra sleep, while my son is stuck (probably bored out of his mind) in his crib....see, now you why I say Black Mark on my Mommy Grading Card?

This morning was going to be different.....or so I told myself....I was going to be bright eyed and bushy tailed....all Mary Poppins and June Cleaver! Well, I can say I did make some progress....I wasn't the crusty eyed monster this morning.....it's hard to be crusty when you have such a big grin and a sweet voice saying "hiiiiiii" when you open the door.

Heck...what am I saying.....in 5 months I'll be wishing I had 15 minutes of consecutive sleep at all.....

But at least with Buggie.....he or she will be in their crib.......bwaaahhhhhaaaaaaa

If you have a black mark, so do I! Punky wandering around free at that age drove me NUTS! Although she was a little less polite, has a bit of a case of only-child-syndrome. I'm up. Feed me now. Play with me.

I was overjoyed when she was finally independant enough that we could tell her that if she woke up before us she could eat an apple or a bowl of cereal with a glass of milk we put in the fridge the night before and to color or something until we got up. And I feel no guilt about it at all. How's that for a black mark?

I am right there with you. Let's celebrate oour black mark mommy report cards. We haven't tansitioned Monkey to a big girl bed yet. Mainly becuase I am afraid she would fall out. She is still all over the place in her crib. I am also afraid that she will start climbing her bookshelves and other various things in her room! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I say this fully aware of the black mark I get, but "child gate at his door" is going to help you tons. Will keep him in his room througout the night and give u back your 15, all while teaching him to play independently for a few minutes in the morning. Not any meaner than a crib, whichbis really much smaller and confining. Just have to toddler proof the room. Good luck!

I agree with Rachel gate at the door helps get you that extra 15 min.

Oh girl pu-lease...I love that last 15 minutes of sleep too ;) My 9 year old would sleep until lunch time if I let her, my 5 year old wakes up but has been taught to play quietly or read a book in her bed and the baby still is in the crib...wooo hoooo!

i have actually managed to get an extra HOUR of sleep w/ my 2 little ones by encouraging them to cuddle with mommy at wake-up time. so nice and totally worth it and much less guilt inducing :)

of course now that my son knows his numbers & which number is pbs kids on the remote, he just goes and turns on the tv, but, hey...soon he'll be able to feed himself and then life will be good! :)
