Feeling like I'm cursed....

Military spouses have this wonderful (not so much) concept that they deal with whenever their spouse is deployed....I call it the Deployment Curse....

In simple terms....it means:

What Can Go Wrong....WILL go wrong! and like Murphy.....or clockwork....it never fails....

The last Three deployments in our household have landed either myself or Noah in the Emergency room....has had a heater go out in NJ in December....and has had 1 dog go into heat.....and can I just say for the record....living with a German Shepard who is experiencing PMS is SO not what I call a good time....and doggie diapers....Now there's a joke for you!

Now....it seems our deployment curse is expanding it's horizons....and is now infiltrating normal trips.....short trips.....trips that are supposed to me my "mini getaway" from the hubby....(even though he's the one off seeing the world)....

Yesterday I lost my wallet.....yep.....and can I just say....that this being the first time I've lost, LOST it...(not just misplaced in the house kind of lost)....you really feel, well lost....Like lost on the Island kind of lost....Lost like 8 seasons later you still have no flipping clue what's going on kind of lost....

No license...no military id....no bank card.....nada....zip...zilch....and of course with Me...the item I'm most irritated about losing is the remaing $15 Walmart Gift Card I had ready to use.....drats...double drats....

Now as I sit in retrospect, it may be a good think my husband is 15,000 miles away...I think he would have thought I'd lost my mind right along with the wallet if he had seen me ransacking the house...and my car.....and the even the last place I saw the drasted thing...(sorry Old Navy)....with my level of anxiety rising after each cushion turn or clothing move...Heck, I even went so far as to look in the freezer...cause with me, you just never know....

The silver lining in this whole fiasco? No one has tried to go on a shopping spree with our money....so I have to think a) it really is somewhere in this house b) someone actually decent picked it up and is sending it back to me....or c) it's lost under a pile of $7 Old Navy polo shirts and won't be found till fall....

Now, almost 24 hours later....after freezing bank cards....and calling warehouse clubs....I can say I'm calm, cool and collected....

I'd rather lose my wallet than my son....

Just wish it wasn't such a pain in the arse to get fixed...

Darn Deployment curse!!!

I hope you find it. I had one stollen at a family party by a neighbor of theirs. What a mess.
Yes I would return a wallet for sure! Praying for you and your family.

Ugh, that sucks, I am sorry. Someone once told me I need to keep a list in the house of all of the cards I have in my wallet (because I doubtl I would remember about my sams club card until I needed it again) for this reason.
Great perspective, though!

ugh, how frustrating. I had a friend lose her purse in NYC and a few days later when back home in Mass. got a call from someone asking for her address to mail the purse back. SHe got it back with everything in it and never had any issues with her ids and cards! So there are some good people out there :)

Awww, sorry! I ALWAYS pick up lost wallets (because I know I'm not going to steal anything, and I would want someone like me to pick up MY wallet if I lost it).

If I find one with ID I mail it to the person's address on their license. If it doesn't have ID in in it or I don't have a lot of time I will drop them off at the customer service desk in the store I find them in. If I find them outside with no ID I give it to the police.

Have you tried calling any stores you visited yesterday and/or the police to see if anyone returned it? Also, if it has military ID in it, maybe someone returned it to the base?

I hope you find it =)

Boo! I've lost mine before and it's such an ordeal to piece everything back together. Here's hoping it turns up after all.

My husband is Active Duty Army, I've never heard of the deployment curse until now, and I plan on using it a lot!
