OMG....I'm not sure I'm ready!

I'm not ready....

I'm not prepared...

It can't be time yet....

Time for Daddy to head back to flying the wild blue yonder.....and me to finally get enough gumption to do this parenting thing of two kids....Gulp ...By Myself!!!

So, logically, I TOTALLY understand that it is physically, and mentally possible to handle a toddler and a newborn.....with only the three dogs as my backup. However, I'm so, and I mean SO not ready fledge...I like having my co-parent here to help tackle a child, change a diaper, fix a meal, and allow me the occasional nap....

Do you think the United States Air Force would listen to a new mommy's unattractive whining, and maybe an foot stomp and pouty lip for extra effect? Yeah, I didn't think so either. In their minds, national security tends to oveshadow my personal apprehension on parenting issues....drat....

Today....is our first day of Project Solo Parent...and as of 1:00, we've done I would say pretty well. I'm trying to take the day in 30 minute incriments.....I've allowed myself to win the SO NOT PARENT of the YEAR award by letting my son do nothing but watch movies, eat chocolate pudding....and hang out in a diaper......

I'm allowing ALL housework to cease until further notice...which hopefully will be tomorrow, when I feel a little more confident in my skills.......

I've only experienced 1 moment of a slight panic attack.....when I had 2 crying children, who both wanted breakfast at the EXACT same time....and unfortunately duct taping the baby to my boob, just was not an option. I had to make the not so pleasant, executive decision to let one of them cry it out....test one....passed (It wasn't what I would call pretty, but we made it through)

I woke up this morning, after 4 1/2 hours of sleep, reminding myself that millions of other parent have been and ARE able to do this parenting of multiple children thing....then I remembered in the hospital, I also tried to remind myself that millions of women also gave birth without having the joys of an epidural.....3 epidurals later, I told myself they were freaking crazy....

HOWEVER,

As much as I HATE to admit it...this baptism by fire....of being truly a Solo parent for 5 days, while hubby is flying overseas......will probably be the absolute BEST thing for me....kind of like trying to learn to swim...and your dad just throws you in.....or jumping out of a plane for the first time....It's about overcoming fears.....and sometimes, you just have to hit it head on, without a security net, though I do hope I have a parachute....

Come Monday....We'll see if I've survived this parenting boot camp...

Good luck! I know you will be just fine. And, there is nothing wrong with chocolate pudding and movies in the morning, afternoon and at night.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....THANK YOU to both of you for your sacrafice and service on behalf of our Country.

Good luck! I don't know how you military wives do it but I have a lot of respect for all of you. My hubby was in the Navy for 6 years but it was before I met him.

You can do it! Duct tape isn't an option? Maybe I should rethink having another... ;]

My co parent has been out of town for four days and my son has been hanging out in a diaper, last night he had chocolate and cookies for dinner and we had a day of lazy.

Can't wait to hear how it went on Monday!

You will do perfectly fine! I feel like a single mom of two a lot since my hubby and I work opposite hours. It gets easier, really it does.
And really....you military wives are such strong people. I couldn't do what you do.

For the record movies and TV are totally educational, chocolate is one of the very healthiest food groups (yes I said food group) and housework is always optional. I think you off to a perfect start. Good luck, you are a rock star mommy so I am sure you will do great.

I'm sure that you will be able to do it.. it just takes time to adjust to the new routine/responsibilities.

I'm also dealing with solo parenting with multiple kids..and will be adding another newborn in a months time.
