.....Or maybe it should be called a Mid-Blog Crisis....
Really...that was me walking around South Jersey Yesterday....
I'm in a blogging funk/rut/gutter/twilight zone....with me really trying to figure out what kind of blogger I want to be....and lately....I'm starting to wonder if I really have the first clue. Why did I start this blogging journey....spend hours upon hours writing, commenting....writing some more....but then that thought process inevitably leads to "am I a blog addict?"....which is a topic I refuse to delve into....why? you ask? ...because my dear friends, the answer just, might, happen to be a resounding YES!.....sad
But in all seriousness...I feel like I am standing at a blogging crossroads.....of where I want to take this baby I've been nurturing for the last year.
Do I want to be like a Dooce?.....seemingly endless poignant, funny and well written posts.....with thousands of followers and even an appearance on Oprah?
OR
Do I want to trend more towards the Mommy Review Side of Life.....in my peak getting amazing free products to try like strollers....and shoes.....the life of american consumerism at it's finest....
I know for sure I won't be considering a home decorating blog....as I can't seem to get the kiddie clutter under control enough to feel decorated.....
I'm really just having a hard time right now figuring out what it is I want to be...do....accomplish while on this Blogging journey. Why are any of us here? Wow, okay now I'm getting deep, maybe a little too deep for 6 am....I'll revisit that idea once I get some coffee in my system.
I wonder if this is how Britney Spears Felt during her psychotic break....."Do I want to be Britney? Or do I want to be Ginger?" Right now I'm leaning towards Ginger.....pink wig....gold chains and a new non kid friendly sports car....
But still no idea about my blogging identity ~

I have thought the same thing. I think as long as you are having fun, just have fun! It's your space, do what you want in it!!
I've been wondering the same thing about me. Minus the baby stuff.
Yea...that is a tough one. What it comes down to for me is this...I blog when I feel like blogging and don't when I....well don't feel like it. I was afraid at first I might lose my followers, but really the followers are only the frosting on the cupcake (ok...well maybe that is my favorite part of the cupcake), but really I am blogging for my family records, for me to remember the funny, silly and serious things that are happening day-to-day here at the Kennedy household. Hopefully my followers stick around when I am in a blogging funk...because let's face it...they make it way more fun. But am I going to make tons of money on this here blog...probably not...is it addicting though...probably yes! Did I need to find a happy balance...yes. I had to let some things go in the blogosphere...it hurt at first, but I have adjusted to my new blogging habits. And I am having fun again. Hope that helps you out in some small way. But I kind of think that was more for me than you!
P.S. My husband some days wishes I would give up blogging all together so he can be first again in my life! Maybe I still have a little more adjusting to do! :)
I say just blog and you'll figure it out as you go :)
thanks for stopping by my blog! as far as your question...just keep writing and it should answer itself!
Think of it as a patchwork quilt, bits and pieces that don't seem related but are wonderful when pieced together.
I say be Ginger:) Ha ha ha :))) this last sentence cracked me up:)
Off topic tough, if you have time, you may want to stop by to check out the exciting news I'm sharing today!
Happy Thursday!
Whatever you do decide, just keep blogging and writing from the heart! Write when you feel inspired, write when you have something to say, write when you'r down or happy or when you want to do a review. My blog is all over the place, mostly a place where I talk about my life as a mom, my boys, my worries, and my love of shopping. I'm no Dooce... nowhere near... I just love blogging 'cause I love to write and I love the connections with other bloggers!
I agree with Roxane - keep blogging and see what happens! Most importantly, don't stress about it. :)
Why do you have to have a certain identity? Why not just be yourself and write about what you feel like writing! That is what I do---and if helps me to feel a bit fulfilled---and I can later make a book out of it, so that someday, my grandchildren can read about my life, as it were.
By the by----I enjoy your blog----I just started reading about a month ago....
You have a blog award waiting for you on my blog.

Be what you want to be or be both, it's really your decision. It's a hard decision to make. For me I knew that as sweet as it would be to get all that great free stuff (and believe me we will be needing it), I'm not a die hard reviewer. I like doing some reviews though, since it gives me something to write about on the days when I have nothing. I love blogging and don't see me stopping anytime soon, whether I'm making money off of it and bringing in the great free stuff or not... I'm here to stay for now!
I struggle with why I blog and where I am going with my blog all the time. I know why I started, I think, but somewhere along the way it has started to feel like there needs to be more to my reasons for blogging.
What is it that makes us feel like we need to have a direction for our blog when we didn't feel that way in the beginning? Probably our followers and seeing what amazing things other blogger's are getting because of/from their blogging.
personally i like you just the way you are! I'm at a bloggy crossroads but its more jsut trying to find time to write and read... and keep the kids alive.
I was thinking along these lines kinda recently...

let me know what you think... although, I have a feeling you *might* disagree with my thoughts...
Really? That top picture is you?? Really?
:)

It IS a great way to document your kids, if nothing else. Way better than a baby book.
We wanted to be different that's why we chose the mommy daughter blog. Find a niche and make it work for you.
